Protenus co-Founders selected as ICIT Fellows in response to continuing onslaught of health data breaches.
Baltimore, Maryland - Protenus, the world’s leading proactive patient privacy analytics platform, was accepted as a member of the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT), with Protenus co-founders, Robert Lord and Nick Culbertson, as the newest ICIT Fellows. The Institute is a 501c3, think tank cultivating a cybersecurity renaissance for our Nation’s critical infrastructure community. ICIT identified the team assembled by Protenus as a valuable asset as the organization continues to expand its expertise in big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning as it pertains to healthcare cybersecurity. Protenus will contribute to ICIT’s cutting-edge research and initiatives that support technologies needed by government and critical infrastructure leaders. These vital sectors of our economy include healthcare, finance, defense, energy, and transportation.
Protenus CEO Robert Lord was recently invited to speak alongside the Nation’s leading cybersecurity thought leaders, including Dr. Ron Ross, Fellow, NIST. These experts were assembled for an ICIT briefing that occurred at the U.S. Senate, “Your Life, Repackaged and Resold: The Deep Web Exploitation of Health Sector Breach Victims.” The report outlines the the valuation of health records and predictions on the future of healthcare cyber security. Panelists shared their expertise on the deep web and its actors, discussed the role of cyber threats to health IT from both private and public sector perspectives, and recommended steps hospital leaders can take to keep patient data safe.
“Defending the healthcare ecosystem against a hyper-evolving adversary requires not only innovative technologies, but a deep understanding of healthcare workflows and the way in which payers, providers, and patients use and access data” stated Parham Eftekhari, Senior Fellow of ICIT. “As a health-sector-grown cybersecurity organization leveraging machine learning for cybersecurity, Protenus will add a unique and highly valuable perspective to the Institute’s health sector initiatives.”
Protenus is further assisting ICIT to continue its efforts by becoming a Patron Underwriter for The Annual ICIT Gala and Benefit, November 10, 2016, this year’s most prestigious and intimate gathering of legislative, agency and private sector leaders committed to protecting our Nation’s critical infrastructures. This event will celebrate the minds of the most influential members of our community as well as the efforts of today’s most impactful cybersecurity leaders. The funds raised from this benefit will be used exclusively to help sustain and grow the Institute’s research, publications, and educational activities for the communities it serves.
“Our team is honored to be a part of ICIT as it improves the efficiency and resiliency of the Nation’s critical infrastructure by working with experts in health IT, patient privacy monitoring, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, and Advanced Analytics,” said Robert Lord, Co-Founder and CEO of Protenus. “Knowledge is power. The more we can share our expertise and collaborate, the more secure our critical infrastructures will be.”
