Nick served eight years in the US Army and completed his service as a highly-decorated Special Forces operator (Green Beret). He was awarded two bronze stars during his service, one for extraordinary valor.
Nick attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he and co-founder Robert Lord saw firsthand how electronic medical records are used to improve patient care and share data more efficiently. They also observed that the electronic medical record created a whole new slate of serious security and privacy concerns. In 2014, Nick and Robert developed the initial prototype and algorithms that launched Protenus, fulfilling a critical need to better protect patient data in electronic health records.
Prior to Protenus, Nick spent four years as a biomedical researcher at Johns Hopkins University, where he participated in a variety of studies including synthetic biology, cellular engineering, and clinical outcomes. Nick holds a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in Cellular Biology and helps run The 6th Branch, a veteran-led community service organization in East Baltimore.
Fun Fact: Nick loves breaking large blocks of concrete with sledgehammers in order to rehabilitate urban spaces, which he gets to do frequently with The Sixth Branch.
Robert began his career designing and managing analytical systems for the world’s most successful hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates.
Robert attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he and Protenus co-founder Nick Culbertson saw firsthand how electronic medical records are used to improve patient care and share data more efficiently. They also observed that the electronic medical record created a new slate of serious security and privacy concerns. In 2014, Robert and Nick developed the initial prototype and algorithms that launched Protenus, fulfilling a critical need to better protect patient data in electronic health records.
Prior to co-founding Protenus and his time at medical school, Robert worked at the world’s largest and most successful hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates, where he designed and managed systems to analyze global markets. Bringing this quantitative and systems-based background to tackle the problem of health data security was a natural transition. Robert advocates for the improvement of Maryland’s business ecosystem, teaches at Johns Hopkins, and is a published clinical researcher. He is a frequent speaker on Health IT, cybersecurity, patient privacy, analytical systems, and entrepreneurship. Robert holds an A.B. in Social Studies, magna cum laude, from Harvard College.
Fun Fact: Robert is an avid comic book collector. His favorite series is Grant Morrison’s The Invisibles.
April serves on the Customer Solutions team at Protenus.
Prior to Protenus, she spent four years as a Technical Solutions Engineer at Epic combining EHR knowledge with technical troubleshooting.
April holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Georgia.
Fun Fact:
Ellen followed her passion for data analysis from experimental science into the data science field. After studying math and chemistry as an undergrad, she earned a PhD in Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University studying how neural activity represents experience in brain systems related to memory formation. Ellen was drawn to Protenus by the enormous potential in healthcare data and the desire to extract meaningful and useful signals from this data.
Ellen is a proud UNC Tarheel and North Carolina native although she’s called Baltimore home for many years. She’s been deeply engaged in the Baltimore community through nearly a decade volunteering in Thread, a program which builds support networks around students and young adults facing significant challenges.
Fun Fact: Ellen has 18 years of ballet training, including having performed nearly every role in the Nutcracker Ballet over 13 consecutive seasons.
As the Controller, Hailey oversees the daily operations of the accounting department. Prior to joining Protenus, Hailey was the Senior Accountant at Redwood Capital Investments, where she oversaw financial reporting and liaised with external business partners. Before Redwood, Hailey was a Senior Associate in Assurance Services at Ernst & Young, LLP serving primarily private equity, technology and manufacturing clients.
Hailey earned a B.S. degree in Accounting and a minor in Information Systems from the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola University Maryland. She is an active Certified Public Accountant.
Hailey is from Lancaster, PA but currently lives in Nottingham with her younger sister.
Heather has over eight years of regulatory compliance experience ranging in industries from telecommunications, financial institutions, and healthcare. She has an extensive background in compliance and has worked, as an Internal Auditor and Vendor Manager. Before joining Protenus, Heather worked at a large academic medical center where she was the HIPAA Compliance Coordinator and was an end user for the Protenus platform.
At Protenus, Heather focuses on helping customers with Privacy monitoring through the Professional Services products. She plays an integral part in set-up of the program for customers, as well as serving as an extension of the customers Privacy Office by providing on going case reviews and annual privacy health check-ups.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master’s in Business Administration from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD. While there, she was a member of the women’s swim team.
Fun Fact:
Heather has visited one of the seven wonders of the world – Taj Mahal in Agra, India. While there, she got a picture in the same location as Princess Diana. Heather lives in Abingdon, MD with her husband, two daughters, and golden retriever!
Alex is a Venture For America Fellow, talented big data engineer, and a co-founder of SOS4 Cancer, a non-profit organization that supports teens fighting cancer.
Alex is an interdisciplinary engineer whose broad range of skills allows him to contribute to a wide array of engineering challenges. Prior to Protenus, he worked at the successful cybersecurity startup ZeroFox where he architected and engineered asynchronous Scala-based systems. He brings his problem solving skills, security experience, and enthusiasm to Protenus.
Alex has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Washington and Lee University, and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
Fun Fact: Alex’s favorite board game to play on a Thursday is Smallworld.
As the CTO at Protenus, Michael is responsible for the company’s technology vision, strategy, and translation into products. He has more than 25 years of technology and product development experience including over 13 years as a Healthcare CTO at various companies such as lifeIMAGE, MedAptus, and CodaMetrix where he has led teams in the delivery of new products on multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
Most recently, Michael was the CTO of CodaMetrix, a software company that leverages machine learning to predict the ICD, CPT, and modifiers using the physician’s note. As the initial technical executive, he hired the Engineering, QA, and devOps teams and implemented the processes to continuously deliver new products and features on a multi-tenant microservice machine learning platform.

Michael lives in Raleigh, NC and likes to play hockey
At Protenus, Samantha focuses on growing and scaling the company’s People Operations function. She plays an integral role in implementing new ideas to support Protenus employees and make it a great place to work.
Prior to Protenus, Samantha worked at multiple technology companies of varying sizes, mainly in the payroll and benefits realms. Most recently, she worked at Squarespace in New York City as a member of the People Operations team, where she supported nearly 700 employees on day-to-day operations and longer term strategic projects.
Samantha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park. While there, she was a member of the women’s lacrosse team.
Fun Fact: Samantha is an avid traveler and even spent a month backpacking through Europe. The next destination on her travel list is Dubai.
Alex specializes in brand development and multimedia design with 9+ years of experience.
Before joining Protenus, Alex worked within the medical device industry; most recently spending six years ACell, Inc., where he worked on corporate design direction, the rebranding and launch of several product lines, as well as sales-based tools and marketing.
Alex holds two Bachelor's degrees - One in Fine Art from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a second in Business Management and Marketing from Loyola University, Maryland.
Fun Fact:
Born and raised in Baltimore, Alex has traveled to 13 countries and 24 states but he always returns to Baltimore, where he lives in the Highlandtown neighborhood with his wife.
Andrea has extensive experience in data mining, reporting, visualization, and privacy auditing.
Before joining Protenus, Andrea spent 12 years at an integrated healthcare delivery system as a compliance, information security, and information services analyst. She has expertise in evaluating organizational risk, and delivering improvement strategies based on regulatory requirements and best practice standards.
Andrea has a B.A. in Health Information Management from The College of St. Scholastica and is certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator and Health Data Analyst. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Health Informatics.
Fun Fact: Andrea successfully promotes the mini-van “cool factor” using convenient sliding doors, sweet shades, and jamming good tunes. Yes, her kids enjoy it most of the time, you may ask. Stay tuned though, that may change.
Prior to joining Protenus, Megan spent 5 years working in Sales Operations as the Salesforce Administrator for a2z, Inc., an events management and optimization platform for event planners and show organizers. She also has experience as a Territory Sales Manager for Nixon Medical, an apparel & linen service for outpatient healthcare facilities.
Megan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She also holds 3 Salesforce Certifications (so far!) and is passionate about learning more about the Salesforce platform.
Fun Fact: Megan’s most heart pounding moment ever was bungee jumping in Acapulco, Mexico. None of her friends would jump with her, so she convinced a random person on the beach to join!
Kasey is a Senior Compliance Specialist who focuses on case review and triage, reactive investigations, and customer experience. Kasey has experience in compliance reporting, data analysis, project management, and conflicts of interest. She also has experience in provider credentialing.
Prior to joining the Protenus Professional Services team Kasey worked in small and large hospital systems in North Carolina and was a Protenus end user.
Kasey graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management and Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management. She also holds a certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).

Andrea loves being a product expert guiding clients to success by assisting them in product adoption while also serving as an internal advocate helping to evolve our product based on feedback and understanding of client use. Her approach to customer success is highly proactive and customer-centric.
Prior to joining Protenus, Andrea worked as a Customer Success Manager for a patient and alumni engagement platform serving the addiction and mental health treatment market. Her dynamic background includes having managed an over 66,000 square foot coworking space, working at a coworking space management startup, planning corporate meetings and events for 5 years, and another 5 years slinging coffee and managing shifts at Starbucks.
Andrea has a BA in Women's Studies from the University of Florida and a MA in Business Design & Arts Leadership from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Outside of work she enjoys hiking, paddling, live music, watercolor painting, ice dyeing, and seeing how long she can get her pothos to grow.

In the first few months of the pandemic Andrea sewed over 500 masks from fabric she hand dyed.
Teresa has over 30 years of legal experience spanning practice areas that include healthcare, litigation management, contract negotiation, and real estate. Most recently, she served as the Deputy Privacy Officer for the Johns Hopkins Health System for eight years, handling all aspects of healthcare and patient privacy.
Teresa initially planned a career in journalism but opted to concentrate in the legal field, beginning her career as a paralegal in several local Baltimore law firms. She spent 15 years in-house at The Rouse Company and 11 years in-house at Johns Hopkins.
Teresa holds a BA, magna cum laude, from Towson University, where she was a competitive speaker and debater.
Fun Fact: Teresa has a great love for gems, gemstones, and other natural stones. She considers herself a self-taught “armchair gemologist,” studying and collecting various stones and items of jewelry.
Alex brings over 7 years of Customer Success experience to Protenus. As Customer Success Manager, Alex uses his ability to develop strong relationships through a personable and consultative approach to make sure our clients receive the value and experience they deserve.
Prior to joining Protenus, Alex was a Customer Success Manager for Binary Fountain, which is a healthcare reputation management company. Before that, Alex worked for other startups in different industries in the Virginia area. He started his career out working for Apple & Microsoft, where he found his love for technology and working with clients as an account manager.
Alex has a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of Minnesota. In his free time, Alex loves to watch/play sports along with spending time with his fiancée, Brandy, and their 9-year-old daughter, Mya.

Scott brings startup experience in both healthcare and hospitality technology to his role as Product Manager for our Diversion module. He has overseen the development of business tools that leverage AI and Machine Learning to optimize revenue, reduce costs, and improve patient outcomes.
He loves helping users take advantage of data and technology to streamline their work and make better decisions.

Christa brings a passion for people to her role as a Customer Solutions Specialist, she offers a wealth of customer service experience.
Prior to her start, she spent 4 years at Wegmans Food Markets. There, Christa worked within Store Operations and Customer Service, where she was recognized for ability to use knowledge based service to drive sales. Christa has also spent time focusing on social equality, serving as an Investigative Intern at the Public Defender Service and as a Housing Specialist at a housing mobility non-profit.
Christa most recently graduated from Towson University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology.
Fun Fact: Christa spent 4 months living in Rome, Italy and was able to travel to 6 different countries in Europe.
Bobby studied Computer Science at North Carolina State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2020. While there, Bobby played bass drum as part of the Power Sound of the South Drumline and has continued drumming in his free time.
He enjoys solving many different kind of puzzles, and his puzzle-oriented style of problem solving is what keeps him consistently involved in coding.
Before joining Protenus, Bobby was a mobile applications developer who helped create apps that facilitate clinical trials. Now, Bobby works as a backend software engineer helping maintain and deliver data throughout the Protenus team.

Bobby can solve a Rubik's Cube in under 1.5 minutes!
Originally from California, Connor earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. After graduation, Connor decided to pursue his interest in technology and software while still incorporating his science background.
Prior to Protenus, Connor worked as an Application Consultant for a healthcare software company that specializes in automated physician scheduling. He was primarily involved in implementations and technical support.
When he’s not hard at work, Connor enjoys playing in Baltimore’s recreational sports leagues, board games, and skiing. He also rescued a puppy and enjoys taking her on walks along the Baltimore promenade.
Fun Fact: Connor is a certified scuba diver and has been diving off the coast of Santa Barbara and all around Thailand. While in Thailand, he even went diving off of “The Junk”, a liveaboard vessel that was featured in the 1974 James Bond film, “The Man with the Golden Gun”.
Tamanna is a software professional with diverse experience coding in various programming languages, utilizing multiple frameworks and APIs, and interacting with cutting-edge technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), and stream processing.
Prior to Protenus, she worked at Microshare/Point.io, where she led the technical side of projects from proof of concept to development to production. Additionally, she has developed several award-winning solutions at coding competitions.
She earned Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems from Drexel University in Philadelphia.
Fun Fact: Tamanna’s “twin” sister is actually two years younger than her.
At Protenus, Stephanie is focused on growing the PANDAS community, including finding new ways to help customers connect with each other and engage with Protenus employees.
Stephanie brings nearly 10 years of experience in the healthcare community, with an emphasis on building client relationships. She got her start at a boutique PR firm in Los Angeles before transitioning to marketing in the healthcare IT space, where she was able to grow her passion for client interactions and meeting their needs by creating connections within the company and with other clients.
Stephanie holds a Bachelors in Integrated Marketing and Communications from Pepperdine University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Communication Management at the University of Southern California.
Fun Fact:
Stephanie and her husband decided to move to Maine and purchased a house without ever having previously visited. Their first time in the state was when they moved there, and their first time in their house was the day before closing.
Matt has been working in the healthcare space for about 7 years in various disciplines, including health tech, diagnostics, and business administration. The companies he has worked for range from over 25,000 employees to small, local start-ups. In each case, the goal has been to bring awareness to innovative technologies and services in order to improve the healthcare system as a whole.
In his past roles, he has developed deep expertise in fields such as EHR workflows, medical reimbursement, and privacy, compliance, and drug diversion. At Protenus, he leverages his background as a trusted guide to bring value to clients and their institutions, ensuring they have the best resources at their disposal.
Matt is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and is currently working towards his MBA at Georgetown University.
Fun Fact: Matt has moved 18 times in the last 20 years. He is exceptional at packing and unpacking, but has retired from that job and now leaves it to the professionals.
Holly has more than 25 years experience in the healthcare field across a variety of areas, including emergency medical services, hemodialysis care, and regulatory compliance.
Before joining Protenus, Holly worked at an integrated healthcare delivery system as a compliance specialist and drug diversion program manager. Her experience includes health care regulatory compliance; developing and implementing policies, procedures, and workflows; and working with multidisciplinary teams to achieve organizational objectives.
Holly has a Master of Science in Jurisprudence from Seton Hall University School of Law, a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies from Kaplan University, and is Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) through the Health Care Compliance Association.

Holly is growing her own fresh herbs.

As a healthcare technology veteran, Michelle has helped transform the way healthcare technology companies engage with their market, their customers and employees. Her passion is fueled by working with healthcare organizations on practical and strategic methods in which they can utilize innovative technology solutions to support the success of their organization – and drive towards better patient safety, care and outcomes.
Fun Fact:
As a native southern Californian, Michelle loves to do anything outdoors, and has completed two Los Angeles Marathons. Lately, she’s given up marathons for running and hiking with her rescue dog, Stella.
Julie is a customer solutions manager helping customers implement the Protenus platform.
Prior to working at Protenus, she worked at UCLA Health, where she managed the Systems and Risk Informatics team for the compliance office. This included overseeing the implementation and administration of new platforms and applications, conducting data analysis for executive leadership, and managing the privacy auditing program.
Julie has a MFA in interactive media from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and holds Bachelors degrees in public relations and health information administration.

Matt has a decade of experience focused on security, privacy, and compliance in healthcare. He entered the healthcare space with a keen focus on operational effectiveness and the use of data analytics to improve the delivery of care. He has advised clients on efficient ways to improve their security postures and the effectiveness of their compliance programs.
Matt takes tremendous pride in his service expertise, working with some of the nation’s most respected health systems to support strategic information security and privacy service plans over time. He is intimately familiar with the challenges that clients face while trying to keep up with an ever-changing landscape and channels his efforts in supporting client partners to overcome these challenges.
He is a critical member of Protenus’ sales success, contributing to the growth and continued support of key Protenus partners.
Fun Fact: Matt is an avid fisherman and enjoys floating around Narragansett Bay (RI) where he lives. He took his first summer job on a commercial fishing boat when he was 11 years old
Ashley is an experienced project manager who is dedicated to providing an exceptional client experience. She is excited to bring her strong analytical background and passion for the healthcare tech industry to Protenus.
Prior to Protenus, Ashley led a team of project managers at a local tech start-up, specializing in HRIS and benefits administration system implementation. Ashley is skilled at managing client relationships and expectations at all stages of the implementation process.
Ashley is a graduate of DeSales University with a B.A. in Human Resources Management/Business Administration and a certificate of Human Resource Management.

Russell brings more than a decade of pharmacy operations and leadership experience to Protenus, including and emphasis on managing proactive drug diversion programs.
Prior to joining Protenus as a Senior Customer Success Manager, he spent 5 years at Baptist Health as the Special Projects & Indigent Care Coordinator within in the inpatient pharmacy. Among his various data driven projects, he led a multidisciplinary team to identify diversion and educate staff on the organization's proactive diversion posture. At Protenus he collaborates with customers and colleagues alike to drive a positive customer experience and deliver value with healthcare compliance analytics.
Russell holds a BS in Biology from the University of Central Arkansas, and is a nationally certified pharmacy technician.
Fun Fact:
Russell once held a USDA Organic certification for a 5 acre mixed fruit and vegetable farm. The certification has been retired, but he continues organic and permaculture practices in his personal - much smaller - garden.
Erika is a mathematician and neuroscientist by training, and is passionate about using quantitative analytics and machine learning to unlock insights from data.
Erika earned her B.S. in math from the University of Chicago and earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University. Her dissertation research focused on how visual information is learned and represented by both the brain and computer vision models. Erika was drawn to Protenus for the opportunity to positively impact the healthcare industry through data science and AI.
Prior to joining Protenus, Erika was an Insight Health Data Science Fellow, where she created a tool to automate cervical cancer screening workflows using computer vision and machine learning.
Fun Fact:
Erika really enjoys making pottery, encompassing everything from wheel-thrown mugs to hand-sculpted gargoyles.
Matt is a Principal Architect at Protenus where he applies his extensive background in modeling and simulation of physical phenomena to the challenge of understanding user behavior in healthcare systems and expanding our platform’s machine learning capabilities.
In previous roles, Matt worked with the Air Force Weather Laboratory, and had a lengthy stint in the Oil & Gas industry, developing software to ensure that pipelines were as safe as possible. He has developed systems on both ends of the computational spectrum — those requiring weeks to month to compute a single calculation and those that need to be solved in less than a second
Matt got his bachelors degree in chemical engineering with a computer science minor from the University of Delaware. He received his Ph.D. at University of Massachusetts Amherst in chemical engineering. He is also a licensed professional engineer in the state of Maryland.
Fun Fact: As a teenager, Matt was both a Boy Scout and a Girl Scout. Also, he is licensed to fly high powered amateur rockets.
At Protenus, Caroline produces the marketing tradeshow and events. She has experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and metrics to design strategic events aimed to grow Protenus' market reach.
Caroline's career in events was launched in 2002 when she directed high touch events for private equity investors. Since that time, she has continued to create creative events in finance, education, and healthcare; delighting customers, prospects, Board members and partners, using her uncompromising integrity, and ability to innovate down to the details to deliver extraordinary physical and virtual experiences.
Caroline is a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP), holds a Bachelor's in English Literature from the University of Rhode Island and has continued on to higher education studies at MIT Sloan and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Fun Fact:
A classically trained vocalist, Caroline spent 15+ years performing at venues and sports arenas throughout the Northeast.
Erica has served in various Sales & Marketing roles in the healthcare space since 2004. During her career, she has represented many disruptive, best in class technologies. At her previous company, Erica was intimately involved in the successful launch of the world’s first disposable bronchoscope which enhanced clinician workflows, improved patient safety & reduced risk in healthcare organizations.
Erica enjoys the process of building the market for new technologies that break the mold of traditional methods and practices. She prides herself in serving as a partner to her customers throughout the journey of their discovery & selection process.
Erica graduated Magna Cum Laude from Towson University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Marketing.
Fun Fact: In her spare time, Erica likes to breathe new life into old furniture and has started a small collection of antique heriz rugs. She also enjoys a really good cup of coffee and makes a point to visit the local cafes during her travels.
Ali is passionate about working with data. From integrating research data from different sources to building data pipelines to efficiently handle large datasets, she works with data of all sizes to develop solutions.
Previously, Ali worked with financial big data as a Java engineer. While pursuing her bachelor’s degree, Ali interned on the Natural Language Processing team at Cerner, completed a full stack web development internship at Leidos and worked in multiple research labs at the University of Arizona.
Ali earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and neuroscience and cognitive science from the University of Arizona.

George is a software engineer focusing on web development following the MERN stack. George worked on various personal projects which eventually it translated over to his work as a Project Administrator to automate design work with AutoCAD. George is now into web development and has never looked back.
George grew up and has spent most of his life in Queens, NY.

George loves to watch MMA and once tumbled down a mountain but survived with a few scratches.
Kari serves on our internal IT team at Protenus where she provides support to our employees so that they can best serve the needs of our clients.
Prior to joining the Protenus team, Kari worked for eleven years at a prestigious regional law firm. There she made her way through the ranks, starting in the records department, moving to the research department, and finally transitioning into her IT position, promoting to Senior IT Support Specialist during her tenure. While in the IT department, she interfaced with employees as well as clients, and always placed emphasis on customer service as the utmost important aspect of her role.
Kari holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Towson University and is now pursuing a degree in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity at the University of Maryland, Global Campus.

Matt brings a handful of experience to his role here at Protenus. As Customer Success Manager, Matt uses his ability to develop strong relationships through a personable and consultative approach to make sure our customers receive the value and results they desire.
Prior to joining Protenus, Matt worked on getting an athlete engagement app into beta for Elevate Sports & Media. Before that, he was a Customer Success Manager at LinkedIn where he was responsible for the customer journey and education of all LinkedIn Recruiter related products. He was also one of the first team members of the acquired HR startup, Vettery.

Brian is an experienced leader with a strong background in finance and accounting roles at leading technology businesses.
Prior to joining Protenus, Brian spent 15 years working for IBM. He began his career as a staff accountant and progressed to become IBM’s corporate head accountant, collaborating closely with senior leadership. From there, he shifted his focus to finance, holding leadership positions that included CFO of Silverpop and CFO of Security Systems. These years gave Brian in-depth experience supporting software, hardware, services, and SaaS businesses, as well as time spent working both international and domestic M&A deals.
Brian holds an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business with a concentration in Economics and Corporate Finance, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in Finance with a minor in Accounting.
Fun Fact: Brian once spent six months in Australia for a college study abroad program. While there, he had some amazing experiences including scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef, backpacking around Tazmania, and being stranded with a broken down car in the Australian Outback.
With over 10 years of experience in the education space, Meagan brings a wealth of knowledge to her role as Customer Education Manager at Protenus.
Prior to joining Protenus, she served in various roles rooted in training, instructional design, and adult learning theory, including several years at HCA Healthcare where she developed training for implementation of the ambulatory care EHR, eClinicalWorks, and documentation best practices for MACRA/MIPS.
Meagan holds an M.Ed. from Middle Tennessee State University and is a certified Product Owner and Scrum Master via Scrum, Inc.

Meagan is an avid traveler, often looking for unique adventures to do on her trips. Her favorite (so far) is completing the Via Ferrata Loen in Norway.
Kevin has a background in SaaS and information technology which has included roles in recruitment, sales, and business development. Most recently Kevin worked in the ecommerce space where he optimized conversion rates through marketing strategies and campaigns. Kevin has also had a successful run at recruitment with Apple retail, connecting daily with talented individuals and helping to place them with their dream retail store.
Kevin graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BA in Sociology. He currently resides in San Diego, CA with his husband and French Bulldog.

As a Platform Product Manager, Mitch manages the development roadmap for the shared infrastructure that empowers our compliance analytics solutions.
Prior to Protenus, Mitch spent nearly 8 years at Epic, where he supported reporting infrastructure and strategy for several multi-state healthcare organizations. Internally, he led many company-wide initiatives aimed to increase customer adoption of new software features and technology integrations.
Mitch holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University.

Zach has over eight years working as a Talent Acquisition professional. Most of his career has been spent building out start-up SaaS companies and helping create great cultures.
Most recently, Zach worked at Palmetto where he helped grow the company from 180 employees to over 400 in less than a year. Zach has also worked with companies such as Xactly, Conga, & Telnyx.
Zach has a bachelors degree in Business Management from West Virginia University.

Erem is an evolutionary biologist by training who enjoys using his analytical skills and expertise in mathematical modeling to tackle important problems.
Erem earned his Ph.D. from Yale University, where he studied the evolution of sex change in fish using mathematical models and phylogenetic analyses. Following his graduate work, he spent two years at Uppsala University in Sweden, designing and conducting a long-term selection experiment on seed beetles.
Prior to joining Protenus, Erem was a senior manager at comScore where he led a team of data scientists to develop comScore’s next-generation methodology for measuring television audiences.
Fun Fact: Erem is an avid practitioner of Aikido and holds a first-degree black belt.
Brit brings to the team a track record of driving sales, revenue and customer engagement for leading edge technology, information and analytics products and services. Before joining Protenus, Brit was the Chief Operating Officer at Yet Analytics, a learning analytics firm in Baltimore. Prior to that, she led HR operations and diversity & inclusion (D&I) strategy at Dun & Bradstreet and was a Vice President at AOL, where she was responsible for managing client services and operations for AOL’s digital advertising business.
Brit has always believed in giving back to her industry and community through service, which has included serving on the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), serving on the Board of Directors for the Towson University College of Business and Economics, and serving on the Advisory Board for the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Advertising Operations Council. Brit is particularly active with women’s mentoring programs, including the Women in Media Mentoring Initiative (WIMMI), the Lean In Foundation, and AOL’s women’s mentoring program. She was honored for her work in women’s leadership with the 2018 Daily Record’s Leading Women award and 2014 MAKERS@AOL recognition. Brit has also led the community outreach programs for Dun & Bradstreet and AOL Baltimore, including AOL’s annual Monster Help Day.
An avid skateboarder, Brit currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Baltimore County Skateboard Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to building skateparks for County youth.
Kristin brings more than a decade of experience in marketing and operations to her role as Senior Customer Success Manager. She also offers a wealth of experience in customer-facing operations, including account management, customer service/support, training, and product development.
Prior to joining Protenus, Kristin spent four years working in operations at OrderUp, an on-demand food-delivery platform. There, she was a liaison between customers and the legal, product, and support teams to maintain and improve relationships with her accounts. She also worked as the Tech Success Manager at Fixt, another Baltimore-area startup, where she hired and trained hundreds of technicians and contributed to the strategic direction and oversight of the national technician network.
Kristin graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a double degree in marketing and dance. She remains a diehard fan of all things Maryland.

Andrew has a background in SaaS and finance with a focus in business development and financial analysis. He has held numerous roles in the banking industry throughout the Pacific Northwest, and has extensive experience working in small business development across the software industry. Most recently, he worked as a member of U.S. Bancorp's Portfolio Credit Support team based in Portland, Oregon.
Andrew recently graduated from Oregon State University with a BS in Finance.
Andrew was born in raised in Portland, Oregon and has lived in the state his whole life. Andrew currently resides in Bend, Oregon where he enjoys hiking, river rafting, and all things outdoors.

Fazal has extensive experience in enterprise architecture, software development, and building scalable, high-performance systems in secure environments.
Fazal’s technical leadership experience includes requirement analysis, architecture, data and object modeling, design, development, and verification phases of Information Technology (IT) projects. Fazal’s key strengths are leveraging leading-edge technologies and architecting solutions by mapping customer business problems to reusable end-to-end technology solutions.
Before joining Protenus, Fazal worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM, and RWD Technologies. Fazal has a M.S. in Information Systems from the University of Maryland.

Ben has a unique, diverse background in visual design, user experience, and product design.
Previous experience with a national e-commerce retailer allowed him to develop his design skill set. He has also worked with research, development, and design for a firm that provides marketing and data analysis to colleges and universities across the country, and as a Director of UX at an agency where he worked directly with clients like ADP and Amazon.
Ben holds a Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University with majors in in Computer Science and Interactive Multimedia.

Kyle has software development experience ranging from web application design to analysis of 3D MRI scans.
While pursuing his bachelor’s degree, Kyle had the opportunity to work at an MIT lab which was contracted to design and develop a series of web applications. Additionally, he spent some time at a Northeastern research lab where he worked towards using vocal tract scans to understand the acoustic properties of the human voice.
Kyle has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and music technology from Northeastern University.

Bree is an expert at implementing innovative programs and technologies that serve patients and providers and improve the overall quality of healthcare delivery. While working at healthfinch and UW Health, she proved to be an effective leader, especially as a communicator between technical and non-technical teams and an inventive problem-solver with a track record of strong program management, team leadership, and positive outcomes.
Developing lasting and significant relationships with Protenus customers and colleagues brings her the greatest feeling of achievement.
She holds a Masters of Science in Health Communication from Boston University and a Bachelors of Science from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

As a Tax Compliance Specialist, Miranda monitors exposure within different states and makes sure Protenus is staying up to date on tax filings.
Prior to joining Protenus, Miranda worked as a senior tax associate at RSM serving primarily on the private client services team.
Miranda received a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park. Miranda is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant.

Miranda has an extra rib. It's only half the size of a normal rib, but nonetheless it's more than the average person has. Roughly 1 in 200 people have an extra one!
Over the past 20 years, Jason has gained expertise in EHR software development, implementation, and maintenance. During his career, he has led teams in software design, built a deployment and maintenance team, and managed multi-million dollar software implementation projects. He has built a solid reputation for exemplary customer service that blends his technical experience and customer handling skills.
Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Westfield State University.

John is a registered pharmacist who has practiced in a variety of pharmacy settings, including home infusion; hospital; community/retail.
Additionally, John has over 20 years of experience in the Healthcare Information Technology industry, working with industry leaders: Cerner, McKesson, Health Care Solutions, and Omnicell. Serving in a various roles, such as sales and sales support, clinical marketing coordinator (liaison between sales-client-engineering), implementation and end-user training...with particular emphasis on new product launches/re-launches.
John graduated from the University of Missouri School of Pharmacy in 1984 and achieved membership in Rho Chi, the international honor society for pharmaceutical sciences.

John has a passion of cooking, especially smoking meats. He has competed in several local & regional "cook-offs" and has won awards for his ribs, briskets and sausage.
St. Louis, MO born and raised, Brianna has over 10 years of experience in the creation and implementation of successful cross-departmental inbound, demand generation, and digital marketing strategies. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri St. Louis where she teaches Intro to Marketing as part of the College of Business Undergraduate Program, as well as the Social Media Strategy and Advanced Facebook Advertising courses for the Digital Marketing Certificate program.
Brianna holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Certificate in Digital Marketing from the University of Missouri St. Louis, and a Bachelors of Science with a double major of consumer behavior/marketing and management from Tulane University.

Alixandra is a legal intern originally from Savannah, Georgia. She is a current law student that is interesting in specializing in contract and transactional law.
Prior to joining the Protenus team, Alixandra worked in different areas of law such as business law and medical malpractice and personal injury law with various law firms in Georgia and New Mexico.
Alixandra is a rising third year law student earning her Juris Doctor at Mercer University School of Law in Georgia and will be graduating May 2022. Additionally, she is currently completing her Masters of Business Administration in Mercer's joint JD/MBA program. Alixandra graduated from University of Georgia with her Bachelors of Arts in Communications.

At Protenus, Kelly is Digital Marketing Associate, where she assists in creating marketing campaigns across multiple channels and tracks performance and leads to optimize marketing strategies.
Previously, Kelly was a Digital Marketing Specialist at an online Identity Verification service provider, where she published content to their blog site, optimized the website for best SEO practices, and monitored PPC campaigns to achieve measurable results.

Amy is a Maryland native who has worked as an in house lawyer for nearly all of her 20 year career.
Prior to joining Protenus, Amy worked at Under Armour for nearly nine years as its first, and only, Ethics and Compliance Officer, and as a commercial lawyer for the brand. She was corporate counsel at Prime Retail for several years focusing on commercial real estate matters, worked at Verizon managing litigation, and started her legal career as a litigation associate for a large mid-Atlantic law firm in its Baltimore office.
Amy earned her JD from the University of Maryland School of Law and her undergrad from UMBC.

Born in India and raised in Northern California, Adhithi earned her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Global Health at the University of California, Berkeley.
Upon graduation, she worked in various healthcare positions before she realized her passion for technology. Combining the best of both worlds, she began her journey in health tech at athenahealth as a Senior Systems Integration Associate.
As a Technical Project Manager at Protenus, she is excited to continue her journey in healthcare technology by implementing and supporting plug-in solutions for customers.

Most recently, Jill worked at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ) on and across a variety of programs to manage IT operations and implement agile methodologies. Prior to CMS, she supported process development and systems integration as a consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). She also has experience working at local, state, federal, and nonprofit agencies to improve community health and optimize government funded healthcare programs.
She received her Master of Public Heath from Northeastern University and her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Criminology from the University of South Florida.

Bill has over a decade of experience providing IT support and solutions for companies of all sizes. He evangelizes the “user experience” aspect of IT.
As an IT Specialist at a regional law firm, Bill wore many hats but focused on systems analysis of user workflows and business needs. He worked with different groups to apply technology that would increase efficiency and throughput or remove technological impediments. His ideas and implementations allowed users to work as efficiently and easily at home as they would in the office.
Bill holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
Fun Fact: Bill’s sons are still extremely impressed that he can name all of the Transformers. Hopefully this will last for a quite a few more years.
Corey has a long history building software tools for science. In his early career he developed software for digital microscopy. Working closely with a mix of developers and scientists instilled a passion for domain driven design. After microscopes, Corey focused on web services and distributed systems for both small and large companies.
Recently he’s been working on his technical writing and hopes to one day write a beginners guide to software design.
Corey has a Bachelors of Computer Science from Harvey Mudd College.

Sonal has worked in Healthcare for the past 25 years. She enjoys working closely with Healthcare clients and building relationships to help improve their business processes.
Her experience includes having worked as the Patient Access Director for St. Christopher's Hospital for 14 years. During her time at St. Christopher's Hospital, she led a team of 60 individuals that provided coverage for all registration areas from the Emergency Dept., Surgery Dept., Inpatient and Outpatient departments. Her responsibilities included ensuring patient satisfaction, point of service collection and employee satisfaction goals were met. She worked closely with all of the revenue cycle departments that consisted of Case Management, Patient Financial Services, Quality Management, Health Information Management, Finance and Patient Compliance Office. She was also responsible for system implementations and led many process improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Most recently, she worked as the Director of Professional Services for the Healthcare vertical at DataBank. She was responsible to work closely with the sales team and provide assistance to help with selling professional services to both new and existing customers. She was also directly responsible to oversee the Healthcare Professional Services team which included Solution Engineers, Project and Product Managers. Her key objectives were to ensure her team met the PS Revenue goals, work closely with the entire PS Delivery Team including Customer Success Managers and the Support team to help drive customer success and satisfaction.

Darin started his career in the United States Air Force. After 6 years, he transitioned into a successful career in healthcare technology sales.
Over the past 14 years, Darin has been serving the needs of Privacy, Compliance and Information Security professionals, focusing on the automation of appropriate access monitoring. Through his experience in the field, Darin has a deep understanding of the healthcare technology landscape. He is also a sales leader, as he has helped build out successful sales teams across multiple organizations that led to successful market saturation.
At Protenus, Darin is a critical member of our sales success, leading efforts to improve internal processes and train our growing sales team.
Fun Fact: Darin can be seen exploring the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of St. Petersburg (FL) where he lives with his wife and five kids.
One of Amin’s greatest strengths is leveraging technology and using creative problem-solving to make peoples’ work (and lives) easier. He did just that before joining the Protenus team as a Senior Database and Project Manager at UCLA Health, where he pioneered a project tracking database that documented and analyzed multi-million dollar research grants funded from the NIH and DoD.
Amin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles. He combined his background in the science and healthcare fields with his love for software by providing over 5 years of technical and project management expertise to research and healthcare faculty over the course of his career.
As a Solutions Engineer, Amin does similar work at Protenus by troubleshooting and guiding customers through the implementation of the Protenus platform.

In his free time Amin loves woodworking, 3D printing, and all things related to making. He very much identifies with characters like Park and Recreation’s Ron Swanson, except he’s friendly and helpful. If you need something built, he’s your guy.
David is a software developer with over twenty years of experience developing software using SQL, CCL and Java.
As a software developer within the healthcare industry David was responsible for the creation of registration conversations, reports, requisitions, labels and assorted other health care documents within a Corner Millennium environment. David also developed web applications that integrated and presented data from assorted unrelated systems.
David is a graduate of a three-year Information Systems program at Fanshawe College, a community college located in London, Ontario Canada. The Information Systems program offered a practical education in computer science primarily focused on the needs of the business industry.

David is a fan of classic rock and spends a lot of time listening to Pink Floyd.
Amanda has over 11 years of experience in marketing for tech B2B companies based in both Massachusetts and the UK. She's held roles from project manager to freelance writer in her career, but her passion lies in the fascinating mix of art, science, math, and magic that is marketing.
Prior to joining Protenus, Amanda was a marketing communications manager working remotely for an international company where she produced a wide variety of marketing content for external and internal communications, such as email campaigns, high-converting webpage content, and all manner of sales collateral.
Amanda holds a Masters in Business Administration, concentration in Marketing, from Bentley University in Waltham, MA, and a Bachelors of Arts with an English major, Business minor from Stonehill College in Easton, MA, graduating from both Cum Laude.

Amanda didn't escape the pandemic puppy craze - her family welcomed a rambunctious labradoodle named Poppy, whose red hair matches that of both her daughters!
Gaurav is a software engineer with over 2 years of experience in the industry.
He started his journey in the industry at Fannie Mae right after finishing his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and was working there until he joined Protenus.

As the VP of Product at Protenus James leads up all aspects of Product Management and Design at Protenus. He brings 10 years of product management experience to Protenus. Prior to Protenus, James worked at Cota, a real world data oncology startup where he led product development for providers and life sciences. During that time he worked with some of the world’s leading cancer minds and institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering, Novartis, and IBM’s Watson for Oncology. Most recently, James comes to us from the healthcare communications platform, Klara where he was VP of Product. While at Klara, James focused primarily on their EHR integration strategy.
James graduated from UMass Amherst, majoring in Political Science and Journalism.
Fun Fact: My wife and I almost got struck by lightning on our honeymoon. She is still trying to figure out if it was a sign.
At Protenus, Kyle works as an Infrastructure Engineer. He has been trained and completing Dev-Ops work for approximately two years.
Prior to Protenus, Kyle worked at Catalyte, a Baltimore-based AI company, as a Dev-Ops Engineer. Additionally, Kyle is working to complete training courses for diverse languages to expand his competence.

At Protenus, Rebecca is focused on leading strategic initiatives for the marketing team. She works cross-functionally to translate product positioning and messaging into robust marketing campaigns, as well as materials to support existing customers.
Rebecca has spent her career in different sectors of the healthcare industry - spanning from healthcare strategic consulting to molecular diagnostics and over the past few years in the health information technology space. She is a proud Johns Hopkins alumni and was excited to return to a Baltimore-based company to continue her career at Protenus. Throughout her career, she has maintained her passion for storytelling and working with her colleagues to adapt that message in an ever-changing healthcare landscape.
Fun Fact:
While Rebecca currently resides in Northern Virginia, she is a native of southern New Jersey and an avid Philadelphia sports fan. She spends several weekends throughout the year traveling back home for sporting events.
Eric has more than 20 years experience in the healthcare space across a wide range of roles, including sales, software implementation, and customer support.
Before joining Protenus, Eric worked with hospitals and medical systems in implementing, integrating, and enhancing a web-based clinical documentation and charge capture platform while supporting sales efforts.
Prior to that, Eric worked as a hospital pharmaceutical sales representative. In this role, he worked with many clinical subspecialties along with hospital leadership to secure formulary additions and drive market share for products in targeted accounts.
Eric holds an MBA from Loyola University Maryland and a Master of Science in Information Systems from UMBC.
Fun Fact: When Eric is not coaching or driving the kids to evening activities, he enjoys exercise, music, snowboarding, and going tubing with his family. He recently (finally) learned how to solve the Rubik’s cube, although his son can solve it much faster.

As the VP of People Operations, Joi is responsible for growing the team that grows our business. That includes leading all functional and strategic initiatives involving our team, including hiring, engagement, DEIB, and Learning & Development to name a few.
Joi has served in People Operations & Strategy leadership roles for many years in healthcare technology, consulting, cyber security, telecom and e-commerce industries.
Joi holds an MBA from Golden Gate University and a Bachelors of Science in Advertising from the University of Colorado.

Lex serves on the Customer Solutions team at Protenus. She combines previous experience performing admin support in a medical office with troubleshooting skills from prior tech support positions.
Lex holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government from the College of William and Mary. While there, she was a member of the Living Wage Committee and led a student-run meditation circle. In 2019 she received her CompTIA SYO-501 Security + Certification.

Lex loves the study of language and took Arabic courses in college and while studying abroad in Morocco. Since redirecting her career path into the IT field, her interest has migrated from spoken languages to programming languages.

Previously, Mason worked at Catalyte, a Baltimore-based AI company, as a full stack developer. Additionally, he was contracted to Under Armour for over a year to build their e-commerce website.

Fun Fact: Mason loves spending time with his family. He and his wife recently had twins at the beginning of the year, and Mason enjoys seeing them grow together but be completely different from each other.
For nearly 20 years, Eric has built and maintained healthcare software and solutions.
Eric started his career in healthcare software at London Health Sciences where he led the development and deployment of a wide variety of systems that required high levels of integrity due to the sensitive nature of the data. He led the testing of a CPOE implementation and worked with many stakeholders to ensure that requirements were fulfilled. He then moved to Iatric Systems where he provided reporting and training on the Cerner EMR.
A strong passion for problem solving led Eric through two undergraduate degrees, one in Computer Science and the other in Software Engineering. He then completed a Master’s in Software Engineering focusing on security and integrity in medical wireless network systems.
Fun Fact: Eric is civically minded and ran for Mayor of the city of London Ontario.
Aaron is a skilled technology professional, with over 10 years experience running high performance, high visibility web applications in on-premise datacenters and the public cloud.
As a Lead Systems Engineer at AOL / Advertising.com, Aaron led the daily technical operations of their static and real-time bidding fleets globally. He spearheaded the migration of ad delivery infrastructure from AOL datacenters into Amazon Web Services, helping to expand the business while reducing costs. Additionally, he worked within a team developing automation to speed deployment and delivery of code across the OneDSP ecosystem.
Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
Fun Fact: Aaron loves to understand how things work. In fact, his favorite TV show is “How It’s Made”.
As a passionate creative who loves building strong brands for mission-oriented companies, Rebecca has spent the majority of her professional career working in the marketing realm. Most recently she ran the marketing department for a boutique trade show firm in Atlanta, Georgia. While in this role, Rebecca focused on developing and executing marketing strategies and assets which would set the firm apart from competitors while communicating the organization's core values.
Rebecca's favorite part of the job is seeing her contributions come to life and tracking the tangible impact that they have on building business.
Originally from Nashville, TN and now relocated to Atlanta, GA, Rebecca spend most of her time hanging out with friends, family and most importantly her Boxer dog named Bruce Wayne. Rebecca is a home body and some of her favorite things to enjoy are puzzles, running, UGA football and binge-worthy television.

Rebecca is a die hard breakfast food lover and is known to approach pancakes as an anytime casual snack rather than a meal.
Denise is a former nanny turned IT engineer, and brings four years of experience in cloud computing operations into her role on the Infrastructure team.
Prior to joining Protenus, Denise began her technical career as an Operations Center analyst specializing in virtual infrastructure administration and customer service at Expedient Data Centers. In her final year at Expedient, Denise joined the product development and operations team and gained her first hands on experience with DevOps and containerization while working to develop and support new multi-cloud offerings.
Denise currently holds an Associate’s degree in Information Systems Security from the Community College of Baltimore County and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity from University of Maryland Global Campus.
Fun Fact:
Denise is an amateur bird watcher! Her two favorites are the Eastern Bluebird and the Green Heron, both of which are native to her home state of Maryland, and her most interesting sighting was a Roseate Spoonbill in Florida.
Prior to Protenus, Nick worked at Jamf Software, a mobile device management and security company, as a Cloud Operations Engineer. Nick has a diverse set of skills gained from many successful IT positions supporting customers, coworkers, and administration.
Nick attended CVTC for Information Technology with a focus in Networking.

Family comes first for Nick. Nick loves tinkering away with new technology, as well as spending time outside working with his hands.
Before joining Protenus, Karen spent nearly 30 years in the healthcare industry. She has an array of experience working in both small and large integrated healthcare delivery systems as a HIM director, IT team lead, privacy officer, senior information security auditor, project manager, and trainer. Karen has experience in managing large, multidisciplinary projects, evaluating organizational risk, increasing quality through team building and delivering improvement strategies based on regulatory requirements and best practice standards. Karen was a Protenus end-user before joining the Protenus Professional Services team and is an advocate for Protenus customers.
Karen is an active American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) member and holds a dual certification as a healthcare privacy and security professional (CHPS). The CHPS is the only combined privacy and security certification available in the healthcare industry. Being distinguished with this special expertise signifies a lifelong commitment to advancing privacy and security management practices.
Fun Fact: Karen enjoys “glamping” in her 5th wheel RV and loves the outdoors. She also loves to sing and volunteer her musical talents at local nursing homes. She adores her two Labrador retrievers, Brooke & Rocky!
Phil has 20 years of experience in healthcare and technology across a wide range of roles, including sales, management, recruiting, software and customer success.
Before joining Protenus, Phil worked with hospitals, health systems and management companies in implementing, integrating, and enhancing a SaaS charge capture and care coordination platform managing sales efforts. Prior to that, Phil was a Principal at an information technology staffing company.
Phil graduated from Elon University in NC.
Fun Fact: While in college Phil took a semester to be a Marketing intern at Disney World in FL. Phil lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife Katie and their three children.
Jim has close to 20 years experience in customer service, distribution and inventory logistics.
Before joining Protenus, Jim has spent the majority of his career working for industrial supply companies. He has experience working in high-volume, time sensitive and fast-paced environments.
Jim studied at the University of Southern Maine, and just recently earned his certificate for completing the full stack immersive bootcamp at General Assembly.
Fun Fact:
In his free time, Jim can be found studying and playing chess, with hopes of achieving International Master status someday!
Kylie has spent the majority of her career partnering with healthcare organizations—from Critical Access Hospitals to some of the country’s largest health systems—to support the acquisition, retention, engagement, and experience of both patients and caregivers.
In addition to working directly with clients, Kylie has spent the last several years leading and developing sales and client management teams within several healthcare consulting and technology organizations.
Kylie holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Healthcare Services Management from the University of Maryland and resides in Annapolis, MD, with her husband, Rob, and their two dogs.
Fun Fact: Kylie is obsessed with any activity in or on the water, including swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, and fishing.
Vicki is a former astronomer turned data scientist. She specializes in investigating large datasets to identify and understand underlying patterns and trends.
Vicki received her Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Maryland, College Park and her Bachelors in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. Her Ph.D. research focused on using bright gamma-ray bursts to study some of the earliest stars and galaxies in the Universe. During her tenure at the University of Maryland, she worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where she built an imager/spectrometer to rapidly track and monitor these objects.
Prior to joining Protenus, Vicki worked at PreciseTarget, a retail data analytics startup, as a Data Scientist/Data Engineer.

Vicki owns over 50 board games and can choose a game for any audience.
Brian spends his time at Protenus guiding our customers through successful and efficient onboarding journeys, a process that is critical for ensuring their optimal long-term use of the Protenus platform.
In his previous job, Brian was an administrator for a music school where he managed academic affairs, awarded the annual scholarship budget, and supervised department support staff. He is an expert at meeting the needs and supporting the goals of customers, whether they be hospitals or music students.
Brian has a bachelors degree in Music Education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and a masters degree in Music Performance from the Peabody Institute. He is currently also on the faculty at Peabody where he teaches clarinet.
Fun Fact: Brian enjoys woodworking in his spare time. He has built cabinets, cutting boards, chairs, and more.
Cody brings 10 years of customer service experience to the Customer Solutions Specialist role.
Before Protenus, Cody most recently worked as a Property Manager for Vail Resorts. While there, he organized multiple high-end projects, developed interpersonal skills, resolved guest and homeowner cases, and provided a balanced workplace for those he managed.
Cody recently earned his certificate for completing the full stack immersive bootcamp at General Assembly.

Cody spent 2 years in Aspen, Colorado learning to snowboard. Over the past 6 years he has road 10 different resorts in the Colorado Rockies.

Ashley serves as a People Operations Coordinator where she brings her passion of interacting with and helping others to Protenus. Ashley strives to "bring her human to work" and hopes she inspires others to do the same.
Prior to Protenus, Ashley worked in various Human Resource roles where she handled payroll, employee onboarding, and various other tasks.
Ashley earned a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore and a Master's degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Ashley also holds her SHRM-CP certification.

Gretchen is an Engineer who loves building delightful, intuitive, and engaging experiences for users. Classically trained as a visual designer she loves calling on her design background to solve problems in programming. She has 9 years of experience building for small associations to major brands including: traditional websites, data visualization applications, apps featuring AI and ML, and most recently video streaming apps.
Gretchen holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Fun Fact:
Though she has a number of hobbies one of Gretchen's favorite is going to concerts. She has seen both Michael Jackson and Prince in concert - the latter of which still stands in her mind as the best birthday present she's ever received thanks to her Dad.
Christa brings 10+ years of leadership and experience in customer engagement, training, and support for software platforms.
Prior to Protenus, she spent eight years at Booz Allen Hamilton as a Senior Technologist. Her experience there ranged from managing a support team for thousands of global users to developing and delivering precision technical documentation for DoD clients. At Protenus, she leads the Customer Success and Support teams in the Customer Experience division. Her role involves collaborating across the revenue, product, and technical operations teams to streamline and optimize the customer journey, and crafting meaningful customer relationship management initiatives. You will also always see Christa at our PANDAS (People and Analytics) user group events!
Christa holds an MBA from the combined University of Baltimore/Towson University program. She received her BS in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Economics from Loyola University Maryland.
Fun Fact: Christa is named after Christa McAuliffe, the teacher who died in the Challenger accident in 1986. Christa is one of Christa’s personal heroes!
Nia brings over 20 years of professional experience. She started her career as a Social Worker in the Child Welfare sector, then transitioned to medial Social Work. As a medical Social Worker, Tynia worked in a level 1 trauma center, for a large hospice organization; and eventually worked in the Case and Disease Management Departments for 2 major health plans. While working for one of the health plan companies, Tynia was introduced to compliance by working as a Compliance Specialist.
She holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work, in addition to a Masters Degree in Health Administration.

Nia loves binge watching tv shows, reading, going to the beach, traveling, and spending time with her grandpuppy, Kiko.
As a Security Engineer at Protenus, Tanya completes security audits, provides company wide security training, and collaborates with the broader security team to maintain the security posture of our infrastructure.
Tanya holds an Associate Degree in Cybersecurity and continues to hone her technical skills while pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity at the University of Maryland, Global Campus.
Fun Fact:
Tanya loves modern quilting and other creative pursuits. She also enjoys camping in her RV and has visited all of the states in the US except for South Dakota and Utah.
Daniel works on the Customer Solutions team, contributing to successful customer experience.
Before joining Protenus he worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan, teaching English and working with local partners to manage education development projects. Daniel also worked as a Software Engineering intern at Resolvve, where he built front-end components using Javascript, React and CSS.
Daniel holds a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from UC Irvine, where he conducted research in Environmental Anthropology.
Fun Fact:
Penny is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever who specializes in crunching the pet-a-bytes.
A.k.a. “the Cupric Canadian,” Penny has 11 years experience identifying suspicious intruders in her domain. Before joining Protenus, Penny studied the behavior patterns of both red and grey squirrels indigenous to the Maryland area. She is known for her calm temperament, her soft, silky fur, and her bright pink nose.
Fun Fact: Penny loves to run, and has even won the canine version of the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C.
